……more Type 87

July 10, 2012

what’s your type?

July 5, 2012

A few years ago I purchased online some Polaroid film. I misread the description of the Polaroid and ended up with a new format/size that I never knew existed. Instead of my usual 600 series peel apart film, i bought Type 87. It is pretty much the same as Type 667 but square instead of rectangular. Since film is non-returnable, I ended up with stock and had to buy a new camera…Polaroid Square Shooter.

Here are some samples of what I shot. This project is closed due to the fact that the┬áno versions of Type 8_’s format is made anymore,┬áneither by Fujifilm nor The Impossible Project.

1 mile to go

June 23, 2012

I work in the heart of Boston’s Kenmore Square for almost 20 years. From our office window we get the best view of the Boston Marathon at the “1 Mile to Go” marker and I always take a break from work to shoot a few frames/rolls. Every Marathon Monday I wonder how I can shoot this annual event differently from previous years. After 20 years, most of my images look the same. This year I found a new way to record the marathon.

Shot with a DSLR converted to capture Infrared light, I focused on the watering sprinkler that showered runners that needed relief from the unusually hot weather on Marathon Monday 2012. I don’t know how many similar sprinklers lined the marathon route before or after this one, but I’d like to think that this oasis was the only one.

Ah Polaroid, how I miss you so.

The following is a selection of the side of Polaroid peel-apart film that is usually thrown away. This side is coated with goopy caustic material that is now, years later, dry and brittle.
